Today we had an early morning flight from Melbourne to Sydney. We were so early to the airport we were able to catch an earlier flight and landed in Sydney at 11.30am. It was a beautiful day and we could see Sydney Opera House from the plane window.
Can you spot the Opera House? |
The Kea Campervan depot was in the middle of nowhere and our only option to get there was a $60 taxi fare which we begrudgingly paid (however this was reimbursed by Kea which was good). The salesman at the depot gave us loads of documents, got us to sign against a load of small blurb and raced through the ins and the outs of the van. Within the hour we were driving off from the depot without much of a clue on what to do or what we'd signed.
Our first night was to be spent in the Hunter Valley which was 2 hours north of Sydney. The campervan was to be our home for the next 2 weeks but on route we got a reminder of home back in the UK.
We arrived in Cessnock in the Hunter Valley at 6pm and headed to the supermarket to stock up on supplies for the van before settling in for the night.
We were really pleased with the van. We'd chosen one with a toilet and shower which also included a fridge, stove and sink, air-conditioning, flat screen tv and dvd player and when the seats and table were collapsed a very comfortable large bed.
The only thing I found a bit disconcerting was the rocking motion when we moved around in the van but other than that I was quite excited about our new found freedom for the next 2 weeks.
